Slowing Down EDITION

On this wellness journey I am focusing on slowing down. Dropping social media and picking up things that force me to be present. In the moment. As a child if I got something wrong, I was reprimanded. I’m reparenting that little girl and letting her know it’s okay to slow down and she doesn’t have to be fearful to try new things.

... Read moreThroughout my own wellness journey, I've found that intentionally slowing down profoundly impacts both mental and emotional health. Dropping social media isn't just about reducing screen time—it's about creating space to fully engage with the moment and reconnect with ourselves beyond digital distractions. One effective way I embraced slowing down was through reading books that invite reflection, such as novels set in tranquil environments. For example, immersing myself in stories like "A Wedding: A Novel in the Lowcountry" helped me cultivate patience and a deeper sense of calm. This practice nurtured my ability to reparent the part of me that grew up afraid of mistakes or failure. Reparenting—the process of comforting and supporting your inner child—has been transformative. I gave myself permission to proceed at my own pace, understanding that it's okay to make mistakes and try new things without fear. Activities such as mindful journaling, gentle yoga, or simply sitting quietly in nature reinforced the importance of presence and self-compassion. Slowing down also means embracing imperfection and releasing the social pressure to always be productive or connected online. This shift improved my overall well-being and helped me develop resilience against stress. I encourage anyone feeling overwhelmed to experiment with these small lifestyle changes and see how being present and gentle with oneself can unlock personal growth and joy.
