Making a dopamine menu

ADHD brains have lower than average dopamine. And without medication (and even with medication), filling those receptors to get things done, can be hard.

Enter: dopamine menu. You can choose any of these activities to give yourself a little boost of dopamine throughout the day. You might use appetizers when you have less time to dedicate, and mains for when you have more time to invest. Sides can be used while you are doing the task you don’t want to be doing.

Appetizers: Something quick: A quick one minute movement break, eating a light snack, having a cup of coffee, coloring

Mains: Doing something that’s more time consuming: Cooking, baking, TikTok video, going on a run

Sides: Things you can do during the task: Listening to music or a podcast, body doubling, using a fidget toy, turning on pretty lights
