Things I bring with me to survive the day

Gone are the days of my giant purse - Those were popular when I was younger. Now, I try to have a bag that gives plenty of room without being huge,... Because then I just end up with a mess and way too many old receipts and trash.

Having things like snacks and gum are vital to me as an AuDHDer. Gum is good for when I’m nervous, but also works well when there are too many overwhelming smells. And snacks, because I get hungry randomly when I miss my hunger cues. Sunglasses are required because why is the sun soooo bright?! And chapstick and lotion for the sensory ick of dry skin and lips. Don’t forget the lanyard because otherwise I’ll lose my keys in my bag 😂

What things do you take along with you when you leave the house?

... Read moreFor neurodivergent individuals, daily survival often hinges on specific tools that enhance comfort and functionality. A compact bag is essential for maintaining organization. Inside, snacks are crucial; they offer quick energy boosts when hunger cues can be elusive. Protein-packed options, like Robert Irvine's FITCRUNCH bars, help stave off irritability associated with hunger, a common issue for those with ADHD. Sensory management is a priority, too. Lightweight sunglasses help shield from glaring light, which can be overwhelming for many. Additionally, keeping moisturizers and lip balms at hand is key to combating dryness, a sensory trigger for some individuals. For ease of access to keys, a lanyard prevents the stress of losing them in a cluttered bag. Furthermore, incorporating gum into the mix can ease anxiety and combat overwhelming odors, creating a more manageable environment. What strategies do you employ to maintain comfort and preparedness throughout your day? Share your tips and tricks to foster a supportive community among neurodivergent individuals!

I keep a smaller bag in my backpack full of distractions. Mine is more to do with anxiety, but I totally get having things you need.
