... Read moreStarting a lifting routine can feel intimidating, especially when progress seems slow or workouts become challenging. From my own experience, I remember struggling with many exercises early on, feeling like I couldn't push through. But the powerful realization was that lifting heavy weights doesn't automatically make you bulky—it actually builds strength and endurance. Over time, as I kept showing up to the gym consistently, exercises that once seemed impossible became manageable. Persistence is key. Fitness journeys aren’t about overnight success but about gradual improvement. For instance, back in April 2025, I couldn’t complete half the exercises I now do with ease. When I remind myself that "You can do hard things," it helps me push past mental barriers and physical fatigue. Tracking progress, celebrating small wins, and focusing on proper form instead of just lifting the heaviest weight made a significant difference. Also, incorporating variety, like mixing cardio with strength training and giving time for recovery, fuels sustained progress. Listening to your body is crucial—avoid burnout by balancing effort with rest. Surrounding yourself with a supportive community, whether online through hashtags like #gymtok or in person, provides motivation and accountability. If you're worried about getting bulky, remember that muscle growth depends on your body type, diet, and training style. Lifting heavy weights primarily tones and strengthens muscles without necessarily increasing size dramatically. Embrace the process, stay patient, and keep showing up. Your strength will grow, your confidence will soar, and you’ll realize that the hardest exercises are just milestones on the road to your fitness goals.

Lifting heavy won't make you bulky
If you’re speeding through your sets just to “get it done,” you’re leaving gains on the table. Lifting isn’t about how fast you finish....(that's cardio😝) it’s about how much tension you put on your muscles. Here’s why rushing kills your progress: •Less Time Under Tension = Less Muscle
