Impossible d’enseigner 😭
Losing my voice after catching a virus was surprisingly challenging, especially since speaking is such an essential part of daily life and my teaching work. During those two weeks of being on medical leave, I found myself searching for ways to keep my mind engaged and productive without straining my throat. That’s when I discovered air dry clay as a creative hobby. Air dry clay doesn’t require any baking or special tools, making it perfect for beginners and those looking to relax. Working with clay allowed me to focus on tactile creativity, shaping and molding without using my voice. It was not only a distraction from the frustration of losing the ability to speak but also surprisingly therapeutic as the hours spent crafting helped reduce my stress and anxiety levels. If you’re dealing with voice loss or any condition that limits typical communication, I highly recommend exploring hands-on hobbies like air dry clay. It’s amazing how such simple creative outlets can uplift your mood and provide a sense of accomplishment when you feel limited medically. Beyond the health benefits, it also gave me a renewed appreciation for the ability to express myself in many ways—not just through words. In addition, during recovery from respiratory illnesses, staying mentally active and positive can support healing. Creative hobbies can easily be adapted to your comfort level, and air dry clay offers countless possibilities to make personalized items like small sculptures, ornaments, or gifts for loved ones. This way, even when your voice is temporarily gone, your creativity—and your spirit—can continue to thrive.
