My go-to scrambled eggs with seasoned tomato slices, as seen on my plate, are a perfect example of a satisfying and comfortable meal. But let's dive a little deeper into making this, and other meals, truly IBS-friendly, especially when it comes to tricky ingredients like garlic. I know the original recipe lists garlic in the homemade seasoning. For many of us with IBS, garlic is a high-FODMAP trigger. But you don't have to sacrifice flavor! My secret for low-FODMAP garlic replacer is using garlic-infused olive oil. It gives you all the delicious essence of garlic because the FODMAPs aren't oil-soluble, so they stay out of your food. I use it generously to cook my scrambled eggs and season my tomatoes. Another fantastic alternative for that savory depth is a tiny pinch of asafoetida powder (hing), added to your cooking oil before other ingredients. For the 'onion' flavor, instead of regular onion, I stick to the green parts of spring onions or leeks, which are low-FODMAP. Dill, chives, parsley, and sea salt, as mentioned in the original recipe, are perfect and safe choices to complete your flavorful blend. Many people also ask about the best way to cook eggs for IBS. Scrambled eggs are often a great choice because they are gently cooked and easily digestible. Homemade soups made with vegetable broth and low-FODMAP veggies like carrots, zucchini, and bell peppers are also fantastic. Always remember to listen to your body and introduce new foods slowly.
