One thing I didn’t expect on this journey…

How fast things can shift.

One week I’m:

✨ Leaner

✨ More defined

✨ Feeling strong

✨ Like everything is finally working

And then the next?

• I eat something that triggers bloating

• My stomach is off for days

• I push too hard in workouts

• My hormones feel completely out of balance

And suddenly…

I feel like I’ve gone backwards.

💭 What no one tells you

With hormonal imbalances (especially PCOS), progress isn’t just about:

• Calories

• Workouts

• Steps

It’s about balance.

Because the same body that’s responding beautifully one week…

Can feel completely different the next.

😩 The frustrating part

It can feel like:

“I just lost 3 weeks of progress…”

But the truth is:

👉🏾 You didn’t lose progress

👉🏾 Your body is just adjusting

🌱 What this journey is really teaching me

✨ Patience

✨ Discipline

✨ Self-awareness

✨ Grace

Some days you’re in an upswing…

Some days your body needs you to slow down.

Both are part of the process.

💫 The mindset shift

Instead of thinking: “I’m starting over…”

I remind myself:

👉🏾 I’m still showing up

👉🏾 I’m still consistent

👉🏾 I’m still moving forward

Even when it doesn’t feel like it.

The next week, unexpected symptoms like bloating or hormone fluctuations can make it feel like all progress is lost. What I've learned is that these fluctuations are normal and part of the body's way of balancing itself. Instead of battling frustration, I started practicing patience and tuning into what my body was signaling. For instance, when bloating occurs after certain foods, I jot down those instances and adjust my diet gradually rather than making abrupt changes. I also modified workouts to listen to my energy levels, avoiding overtraining, which can exacerbate hormonal imbalances. Consistency has been my anchor. Showing up with small, manageable habits daily—even when progress seems to stall—builds long-term success. Tracking non-scale victories like improved mood, sleep quality, and energy has helped me stay motivated beyond physical appearance. This mindset shift—from expecting linear progress to embracing the natural ebb and flow—has been transformative. It’s not about a perfect routine but trusting that every step, including pauses and setbacks, contributes to overall growth. For anyone dealing with similar challenges, remember: you're not behind or failing. Your body is adapting, and your commitment is what ultimately propels you forward. Sharing these experiences has also built a supportive community around me, where real talk about PCOS and body recomp helps break the stigma and inspires others. Remember to be gentle with yourself, celebrate small wins, and trust the process as you continue your journey.
