๐ Tteokbokki (Korean Spicy Rice Cakes)
Tteokbokki is a super popular Korean street food made with chewy rice cakes in a sweet & spicy sauce. Itโs cozy, flavorful, and actually pretty easy to make at home!

๐ Ingredients (2โ3 servings)
โข 1 lb Korean rice cakes (tteok) โ cylinder-shaped
โข 3 cups water (or anchovy broth for more flavor)
โข 3 tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
โข 1โ2 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
โข 1 tbsp soy sauce
โข 1 tsp minced garlic
โข 1 tsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes) โ optional, for extra spice
โข 1 cup fish cakes (optional but traditional)
โข 1โ2 boiled eggs (optional)
โข 1โ2 green onions, sliced
โข 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)

๐ฉโ๐ณ Instructions
1. Soak rice cakes
If they โre hard, soak them in warm water for 10โ15 minutes.
2. Make the sauce
In a pan, add water + gochujang + sugar + soy sauce + garlic + gochugaru. Stir well.
3. Add rice cakes
Bring to a gentle boil, then add rice cakes (and fish cakes if using).
4. Simmer
Cook on medium heat for 10โ15 minutes, stirring often, until the sauce thickens and rice cakes are soft and chewy.
5. Finish
Add boiled eggs, green onions, and a drizzle of sesame oil.
Serve hot! ๐ฅ

โข Less spicy: Use 2 tbsp gochujang and skip gochugaru
โข Extra spicy: Add more gochugaru or a splash of chili oil
