✨ New Read of the Week ✨

Tonight I’m starting Bemused by Farrah Rochon, and I’m already emotionally prepared to disappear into this book like it’s a portal to another dimension.

I fully expect:

• sharp wit

• swoony tension

• the kind of dialogue that makes me pause and whisper, “okay, that was GOOD”

• and at least one moment where I remember I should be writing… and keep reading anyway

And because it’s me, please know I’m approaching this with the same chaotic enthusiasm that I bring to my favorite Disney movie: Hercules.

Is it accurate to Greek mythology?

Absolutely not.

Did Disney take millennia of lore, toss it in a blender, and say “this is fine”?

Yes.

Do I still know every word and every lyric?

Also yes.

If you’ve read Bemused, tell me your spoiler-free thoughts.

If not, you’re welcome to be bemused right along with me. 📚💛

... Read moreIf you're a fan of contemporary romance with a twist of fantasy, 'Bemused' by Farrah Rochon is a perfect choice to add to your reading list. The novel embraces a fresh perspective inspired by the beloved Disney movie Hercules, blending humor, romance, and mythology in a unique narrative style that resonates deeply with readers. Many appreciate the clever dialogue and swoony tension Farrah Rochon crafts, which make the story genuinely immersive and enjoyable. While the book playfully deviates from classical Greek mythology, it does so with a lighthearted spirit, much like Disney's adaptation—taking creative liberties that emphasize entertainment and emotional connection over historical accuracy. This approach allows readers to experience the characters and story through an imaginative, fun lens that feels both fresh and familiar. The novel’s ability to engage readers so thoroughly that they lose track of time is a testament to Rochon’s writing skill and the relatable, endearing characters she creates. For readers who enjoy books that invoke strong emotional reactions, 'Bemused' delivers moments of heartfelt reflection intertwined with comedic relief and romantic tension, appealing to a broad audience who loves genre-blending stories. The comparisons to Disney’s Hercules also add a nostalgic layer for fans of the film, making it an appealing read for those who appreciate pop culture references and reimagined tales. Joining online discussions and reading communities, such as those using hashtags like #CurrentlyReading and #BookishLife, can enrich the reading experience by sharing spoiler-free thoughts and recommendations. This engagement fosters a supportive environment for readers to explore new books and discover diverse opinions. Overall, 'Bemused' stands out as a delightful read that beautifully balances charm, humor, and romance, inviting you to be bemused along with the author on this literary journey.
