He’s Not Done

Acts 28:1–9
Al and I finally slept soundly last night — nearly 11 hours! It’s as if our bodies knew we were back on sacred ground.
The birds welcomed us with a song.
The mountains stood in their usual majesty.
The coffee was strong, the pups were sweet, and my love — steady as ever.
This morning’s devotional took me back to Paul’s story in Acts 28 — a chapter about healing, deliverance, and a Gospel that keeps moving forward.
Paul gets bitten by a snake and survives.
Then he heals the father of Publius.
And just like that — the story shifts… but never concludes.
The book of Acts ends almost mid-sentence.
No dramatic courtroom scene.
No final speech before Caesar.
Because the story isn’t over.
𝘞𝘦 are the continuation.
And as someone who’s walked a long road of healing — physically, emotionally, spiritually — I’ve learned that healing is holy ground.
It’s not just about survival.
It’s about surrender.
It’s about living in a way that invites the Kingdom to break through — one porch, one prayer, one plate of food, one choice, one chapter at a time.
Just as I finished writing those thoughts this morning, I looked up to see Al standing quietly at the porch railing — his gaze fixed far beyond the trees.
I asked him gently, “𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘵?"
And with a deep, peaceful sigh, he simply said:
“𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜.”
That one word undid me.
Because sometimes it takes leaving a place…
to recognize what it cost to stay.
And sometimes it takes coming home…
to realize what we’ve been missing.
Back in New York, noise is the norm — cars, sirens, voices… all hours of the day and night.
But here? The loudest thing is the birdsong.
And maybe that’s the beauty of it.
Nature doesn’t compete.
It invites.
It steadies.
It heals.
And it reminds us:
Stillness isn’t empty.
It’s full of everything we forgot we needed.
🌳
Today, I’m thankful for:
☀️ Sunshine & simplicity
🐾 Morning cuddles with our pups
📖 The book of Acts — and the call to keep
it going.
Let’s live like the story isn’t finished.
Because it’s not.
And the Author is still writing… 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘶𝘴.
