Skinny girl habits that helped me lose 10 lbs 🫶

... Read moreWhen I first started my weight loss journey, I was so confused about fruits. Everyone said they were healthy, but then I'd hear whispers about natural sugars being 'bad' and how they could hinder progress. I used to wonder, 'Are fruits bad for weight loss?' It felt like a diet minefield! But through my own experience, and losing those 10 pounds, I realized it's all about balance and understanding. Fruits are definitely NOT bad for weight loss when consumed mindfully. In fact, they've been a secret weapon for me! Here's why and how I incorporate them without derailing my goals. Firstly, fruits are packed with fiber. This is huge for satiety. When I'm feeling snacky, instead of reaching for something processed, a handful of berries or an apple keeps me full for longer. That feeling of fullness is key to avoiding overeating later. It's part of those 'eating without distractions for satiety' habits I learned – really listening to my body's hunger cues. Yes, fruits contain natural sugars, but this is completely different from added sugars found in many processed snacks, like that tempting slice of cake. The fiber in whole fruits helps slow down sugar absorption, preventing those sharp blood sugar spikes and crashes that often lead to cravings. I remember learning that protein at breakfast helps manage cravings – and combining that with smart fruit choices throughout the day makes a huge difference. So, how do I integrate them? I aim for 2-3 servings a day. My favorites for weight loss are berries (strawberries, blueberries), apples, and oranges. They're lower in sugar and high in nutrients. I'm careful with higher-sugar options like mangoes or bananas, enjoying them in smaller portions or after a workout when my body can utilize the quick energy. I've also found that timing matters. Having a piece of fruit as part of my breakfast, or a small portion as a mid-morning snack, works best for me. It provides natural energy without leaving me feeling sluggish. And just like the advice to 'drink water before meals to prevent overeating,' I make sure I'm well-hydrated, so I don't confuse thirst for hunger, which sometimes makes me crave sweet things unnecessarily. Another habit that changed my perspective was using a calorie tracking app. It wasn't about obsessing, but about awareness. It helped me see how many calories were in different fruits and how they fit into my overall daily intake. This allowed me to enjoy things like a healthy version of an open-faced sandwich with deli meat and arugula, knowing I could also fit in some fruit without guilt. It's about making conscious choices, not deprivation. So, if you're asking 'are fruits bad for weight loss?', my answer is no, not at all! They're a fantastic, nutrient-dense food that can absolutely support your journey when enjoyed thoughtfully. It's all part of building those sustainable, healthy habits that lead to long-term success.

I try to eat 100-120g of protein a day & buying most things in bulk from Costco has helped SO MUCH! I also try to follow a 1:10 ratio of protein:cals as much as I can! So if something has 200 cals, it should have at least 20g protein. Another way to check is to drop the last number from the cal
