ASUS Adjust Game Moving PC Production Base to Thailand, Avoiding Trump Tax 🍋
ASUS has just announced that it has now moved more than 90% of its PC and motherboard capacity out of China. One of its major destinations is Thailand. This is a very interesting sign to the technology industry in our home. ASUS's investment means not only assembly plants, but also that Thailand is well equipped with infrastructure, labor and logistics transportation systems that can support a global manufacturing hub.
.
ASUS chose Thailand at the same time as Vietnam and Indonesia because we have lower import tariffs than China. IT products from Thailand are collected only about 19% while China is collected 30%. This difference greatly reduces export costs to the US market and makes Thailand a very attractive option. Thailand also has a location in the middle of Southeast Asia. It is convenient to connect transportation, which is a strength that major companies value.
.
Although the distribution of production from China can reduce tax risk, there are challenges to the overall cost of both wages, management and distribution in many countries. But for Thailand, this is a huge opportunity to play a bigger role in the global PC and motherboard supply chain. Because the more big manufacturers invest, the more suppliers and related industries are attracted to the military.
.
So ASUS's selection of Thailand as one of its new manufacturing bases is not only a matter for one company, but also a step further in the country's potential on the world map of manufacturing technology, and could be the starting point for Thailand to become a major IT manufacturing hub in the future.
