Using simple ingredients like cream cheese, cheddar cheese, sour cream, and crispy prosciutto, this appetizer is packed with savory flavors that everyone will enjoy. To elevate the presentation, molding the cheese mixture into a tree shape using plastic wrap adds a festive touch that’s sure to impress your guests. When preparing this appetizer, it’s essential to balance the flavors thoughtfully. Garlic powder, salt, and pepper provide the perfect seasoning base, while fresh parsley or chives add a pop of color and freshness. For the assembly, Milton’s crackers are a great choice because of their sturdy texture—they hold up well when paired with the creamy cheese mixture. Layer the crackers around the cheese tree, starting from the bottom and working your way up, creating a visually appealing edible display. One important tip is to give the cheese mixture a taste test before shaping the ball to ensure the seasoning is just right. If you prefer, you can add more cheddar for extra sharpness or more prosciutto for a smokier flavor. Additionally, prepping the cheese ball a day ahead will allow the flavors to meld, and you can add the crackers right before serving to keep them crisp. The star on top, made from cheddar or havarti cheese, adds the final festive touch, making this appetizer not just delicious but also a holiday-themed conversation starter. This recipe is flexible and can be adapted to your personal taste preferences or dietary restrictions by swapping cheeses or adding herbs and spices.
