... Read moreYou know that feeling when you're trying to make your digital notes or planner look super neat, but every circle ends up looking like an egg, and your 'straight lines' wobble? Yeah, I've been there! For the longest time, I thought I just wasn't coordinated enough for digital drawing, especially when trying to create a perfect circle or a perfectly straight edge square in Goodnotes. Then, a friend let me in on a little secret: the 'Draw & Hold' feature. Honestly, it's been a total game-changer for achieving perfection in my digital planning and note-taking. I used to spend ages trying to clean up my hand-drawn shapes, only to give up and settle for something less than ideal. Now, it's just a quick draw, hold for a second, and poof – Goodnotes automatically snaps it into a beautiful, crisp shape. It makes all the difference, especially when you're laying out weekly spreads or intricate diagrams. If you haven't tried it yet, or if you're wondering how to make Goodnotes' 'Draw & Hold' work for you, it's incredibly simple. First, make sure you've enabled it in your Pen Settings. Just head over to 'SETTINGS', then 'Pen Settings', and toggle on 'Draw and Hold'. Once it's on, whenever you draw a basic shape like a circle, square, triangle, or even just a straight line, simply keep your Apple Pencil (or stylus) pressed down for a moment after completing the shape. You’ll see it instantly transform your drawing into a geometrically perfect version. This feature truly helps in making perfect shapes effortlessly. Beyond 'Draw & Hold,' I've found that exploring other Goodnotes settings can further enhance your drawing experience. For instance, have you checked out 'STROKE STABILIZATION' under 'Writing Aids' in the settings? While 'Draw & Hold' perfects your shapes, 'Stroke Stabilization' can help smooth out your general handwriting and freehand drawing, making everything look much cleaner. Another fantastic option, especially if you're creating complex layouts, is 'Snap to Other Shapes' within 'ADVANCED OPTIONS'. This helps your new shapes align perfectly with existing ones, building a truly organized and professional-looking document. I often use 'Draw & Hold' when I'm creating custom planner templates, drawing flowcharts for study, or even just highlighting text with a neat rectangle. It saves so much time and frustration. If you ever find it's not working, double-check your Pen Settings to ensure 'Draw and Hold' is still active. Sometimes, a quick restart of the app or checking your Apple Pencil connection can resolve minor glitches. Trust me, once you start using this feature, you'll wonder how you ever managed without it. It truly brings a level of perfection to your Goodnotes experience that's hard to beat. Give it a try, experiment with different shapes, and see how much neater and more efficient your digital work becomes!
