Eating healthier

Type 2 diabetes.

Well. F*ck

That wasn’t exactly the news I was hoping to receive while already dealing with a bowel blockage, but it was the wake-up call I apparently needed.

So I changed my diet.

I started paying attention.

I started making different choices.

And slowly, those choices started adding up.

My A1C came down.

My health started improving.

And eventually, the scale started moving too.

I started this journey at 350 pounds.

Today?

229.

That’s 121 F*CKING POUNDS.

Not 10.

Not 20.

Not “I lost a few pounds and bought myself a smaller shirt.”

ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-ONE POUNDS.

But before anybody thinks this has been some magical little transformation where I woke up every morning eating perfectly, drinking enough water, making flawless choices and frolicking through a field of vegetables…

Absolutely the hell not. 😂

I have good days.

I have bad days.

I have days where I feel unstoppable and days where I’m tired, frustrated, annoyed, and wondering why the damn scale has apparently developed a personal vendetta against me.

There are days I make great choices.

There are days I don’t.

And guess what?

I KEEP GOING.

Because one bad day doesn’t erase all the good ones.

One bad meal doesn’t erase the progress.

One crappy week doesn’t send me back to the beginning.

And one number on a scale sure as hell doesn’t get to decide whether I’m proud of myself.

This journey started because my body literally forced me to stop and pay attention.

The diagnosis scared me.

The changes were hard.

The process has been messy.

But somewhere along the way, I stopped just trying to lose weight and started fighting for my health, my future, and my damn life.

350 → 229.

121 pounds gone.

And before anyone asks…

No, I’m not done.

I didn’t come this far to park the damn car at 229.

I’ve got more work to do, more habits to build, more goals to chase, and probably several more arguments with the bathroom scale because apparently that little bastard thinks it runs this operation.

It doesn’t.

I DO.

Good days.

Bad days.

Wins.

Setbacks.

Progress.

Bullshit.

All of it counts.

And after everything…

I’m still here. I’m still fighting. And I’m damn proud of myself. ❤️‍🔥

... Read moreStarting a health journey after a Type 2 diabetes diagnosis isn't easy, and I've learned firsthand that it’s a messy, non-linear process. One of the most critical lessons I've discovered is that consistency matters more than perfection. There are days when I rock my diet and workouts, and others when I stumble, but the key is to persist rather than letting setbacks derail progress. In addition to changing my eating habits, I began educating myself about how different foods affect my blood sugar levels and overall well-being. For instance, focusing on whole foods with low glycemic indexes helped stabilize my energy throughout the day. Incorporating more fiber-rich vegetables and lean proteins was challenging at first but became something I genuinely enjoyed as my taste preferences evolved. Weight loss, especially such a significant amount, didn’t happen overnight. I tracked my progress not just by pounds but by improvements in my health metrics like my A1C levels. Seeing those positive changes motivated me to keep going even on tough days. Another important part of my journey was embracing imperfect days without guilt. Sometimes I ate something not ideal or skipped exercise. Instead of beating myself up, I reminded myself that one meal or one day doesn’t erase the progress made. This mindset shift was liberating and prevented discouragement. Support also played a huge role. Whether it was from online communities, family, or friends, having encouragement and accountability helped me stay motivated. Sharing struggles and victories made the experience less isolating. Finally, I realized this isn’t just about weight loss; it’s about fighting for my health and quality of life. Dealing with a bowel blockage added urgency and a stark wake-up call that I needed to make sustainable changes. The journey continues, with new goals and new habits to build every day. If you're starting or struggling on a similar path, know this: progress is progress, no matter how small. Keep showing up for yourself, learn from your experiences, and don't let a number on a scale define your worth. Your health is worth fighting for every day.
