Sometimes the looks of food aren’t as “picture perfect” as the taste and that’s okay!! Here are some of my unaesthetic food pictures i have taken recently that were delicious!! If you want any of the full recipes let me know:)

As someone who loves good food but doesn't always have the time (or desire) to make it look like a culinary masterpiece, I've really embraced the 'ugly delicious' philosophy. My original post shared a glimpse into some of these real-life meals, like my butternut squash zoodles with homemade turkey meatballs or that satisfying air fryer sheet pan meal, and I wanted to dive a bit deeper into how I make these kinds of practical, tasty meals a regular part of my life. For me, it's all about minimizing stress and maximizing enjoyment. Why spend ages plating when you could be savoring? I've found that focusing on simple ingredients and smart cooking methods leads to healthy meals that are genuinely exciting to eat, even if they end up in a bowl on the couch with an iced coffee nearby – totally my vibe! One of my biggest tips for making meals both easy and delicious is to really lean into shortcuts and versatile ingredients. Take the idea of a 'meal kit' for instance. While I love cooking from scratch, a good quality chicken fajita meal kit from Aldi's, as I mentioned, can be a lifesaver. You get all the flavor components without all the chopping. Just add some mashed potatoes, and you're set for a cozy, satisfying dinner. Another fantastic method is the one-pan or sheet pan meal. My air fryer sheet pan meal with chicken sausage, roasted potatoes, cauliflower, and zucchini is a perfect example. You toss everything with some oil and seasoning, pop it in the air fryer or oven, and boom – a balanced meal with minimal cleanup. It might not be perfectly arranged, but every bite is packed with goodness! Breakfasts, especially, don't need to be fancy. My everything bagel skinny breakfast sandwich with avocado, fried egg, and cheese, paired with a side of cottage cheese, is quick, protein-packed, and hits all the right notes for a busy morning. Similarly, a simple breakfast bowl with chopped cucumbers, tomatoes, avocado, and a boiled egg, drizzled with balsamic glaze, salt, and pepper, is incredibly refreshing and easy to throw together. It’s about building a meal with nourishing components, not necessarily a picture-perfect spread. Don't be afraid to get creative with your ingredients. If you're trying to incorporate more veggies, spiralized butternut squash zoodles are a fantastic gluten-free alternative to pasta, and they pair wonderfully with hearty homemade turkey meatballs.
