Just don’t want this being lost
Hey everyone! I've been grinding Overwatch 2 lately, and the payload phase can be super intense, right? It feels like one minute you're crushing it, the next you're scrambling to STOP THE PAYLOAD from reaching its destination. I've had my share of frustrating losses, but I've also learned some killer strategies, especially when playing heroes like D.Va and Widowmaker, that really help to DEFEND the objective. One thing I've realized is that it's not just about getting elims; it's about smart plays and understanding the flow of the game. When you're trying to STOP THE PAYLOAD, positioning is everything. For D.Va, I love to use my Defense Matrix aggressively, not just reactively. See a Junkrat tire coming? Matrix it! Enemy Soldier 76 popping his ult? Matrix it! You can literally halt so much damage, block critical abilities, and buy your team precious seconds to reposition or secure a pick. Also, don't underestimate D.Va's boosters for peeling and disrupting. If an enemy Genji dives your support, a quick boost and melee can really mess up their plans, forcing them to retreat or get eliminated. I've had so many moments where I felt like my D.Va was the ultimate roadblock, preventing that final, crucial push. Knowing when to dive in and when to fall back with your team is key to mastering her. Now, for Widowmaker, it's a completely different mindset. While D.Va is up close and personal, Widow is all about creating space and picking key targets from a distance. Finding those sneaky high-ground spots where you can get clear sightlines without being easily flanked is crucial. Your job is to make the enemy think twice about pushing the payload, or even trying to contest it. Prioritize their healers first – a Mercy or Ana down means their push loses sustain almost instantly. Then go for high-damage dealers or anyone out of position. I've often felt the immense pressure when the killfeed shows "YOU WERE ELIMINATED BY ISMHZ" from an enemy Widow, so I know how important it is to counter-snipe or at least force them to reposition. Landing those critical headshots can completely swing a payload contest in your favor, turning a losing fight into a potential win. Don't forget your Venom Mine for flank watches! A great combo I've found is when D.Va and Widow work together. While D.Va is creating chaos on the frontline, eating up damage and displacing enemies on the payload, Widow can capitalize on distracted targets. If D.Va boosts in and separates an enemy from their team, that's a prime target for Widow to pick off. Conversely, if Widow lands a critical shot but doesn't get the final blow, D.Va can dive in for the finish, securing the elimination. This synergy is incredibly powerful for effectively STOPPING THE PAYLOAD and maintaining control. Communication is also vital – calling out targets for Widow or asking D.Va for a Matrix can make all the difference. Remember to always be aware of the timer and where the payload is. Sometimes, just body-blocking the payload for a few extra seconds, even if it means sacrificing yourself, can win you the game. Don't be afraid to take risks if it means contesting at the last possible moment, especially if your teammates are respawning. It’s those clutch plays that feel the most rewarding! I hope these D.Va and Widowmaker tips help you dominate your next Overwatch 2 payload defense and keep that objective locked down!
