Being a dietitian means I’m aware of what can be causing my problems with food, but it doesn’t save me from them 😭

Listen to your hunger cues and actually chew your food. You’ll be surprised how much less food will actually satisfy you. There are so many variables that are involved with weightloss, but this is something you can implement that could help.

BUT AGAIN, there are just some days that the food is SO good that my hunger cues get thrown out and that is OKAY!

... Read moreFrom personal experience as someone striving to improve eating habits, focusing on how I chew my food has made a huge difference. When I take time to chew thoroughly, I notice that I feel full faster and don’t end up overeating. This mindful approach helps me listen better to my body’s hunger cues instead of just eating out of habit or emotion. It’s important to recognize that weight loss is influenced by many factors—metabolism, stress, sleep, and even the quality of food—but slowing down during meals is a practical strategy anyone can try immediately. Sometimes, I catch myself rushing through meals and then feeling hungry soon after, which often leads to unnecessary snacking. Also, I’ve learned to give myself grace on days when food tastes so good that I don’t strictly follow my hunger signals. This balanced mindset prevents feelings of guilt and helps maintain a healthy relationship with food. Try to set aside time without distractions during meals to focus on chewing and savoring every bite. Over time, this can retrain your hunger awareness and potentially reduce calorie intake unintentionally consumed when eating quickly. It’s a simple but powerful habit that supports sustainable weight management and overall well-being.
