My pumping schedule at 8M PP + Oversupply

I’ve been exclusively pumping since 1 month PP, I’ve been through undersupplier - just enougher - and oversupplier stage and through it all I’ve found what works best for me. Now, at 8 months PP I pump 4-5x a day and I’m grateful that I’m still able to bag 2-3 6oz bags of milk at the end of each night.

FIRST PUMP OF THE DAY: 5 AM

SECOND LUMP OF THE DAY: 10 AM

THIRD PUMP OF THE DAY: 1 PM

FOURTH PUMP OF THE DAY: 4 PM (sometimes I skip this when I’m really busy)

LAST PUMP OF THE DAY: 8 PM

My main pump is the eufy s1 and sometimes I also use the motif aura glow. Wearable pumps save my sanity, it may not work for everyone but this is what my journey looks like and wearables allow me to be able to exclusively pump!

Oversupply, characterized by producing more milk than the baby needs, can lead to issues such as engorgement, plugged ducts, and discomfort. Managing oversupply effectively involves both monitoring pumping frequency and adjusting pump settings. Many exclusively pumping mothers find that wearable breast pumps, such as the Eufy S1 and Motif Aura Glow, provide increased mobility and convenience, allowing them to maintain an optimal pumping routine without disruption to daily activities. These pumps often deliver quiet and hands-free operation, which can improve adherence to a schedule. An effective pumping schedule, as demonstrated, includes pumping 4-5 times daily spaced approximately 3-5 hours apart to mimic natural feeding patterns and maintain supply. Early morning pumping at 5 AM can yield higher milk volumes due to hormone fluctuations. Midday sessions at 10 AM and 1 PM help sustain milk production, while an optional afternoon session accommodates individual lifestyle needs. The final evening pump around 8 PM helps to store milk and prevent overnight engorgement. Understanding one's supply stages—from undersupply to oversupply—can empower mothers to adjust their pumping frequency or duration accordingly. For example, managing oversupply may require shorter but more frequent pumps to regulate production without causing discomfort. Storage and milk volume tracking are essential components for exclusive pumpers. Consistently bagging 2-3 six-ounce bags per night, as shared, reflects a strong milk supply, enabling mothers to build a reliable milk stash. Maintaining cleanliness and proper handling promotes milk quality and safety. Joining online communities and forums such as #pumpingmom and #exclusivelypumping provides emotional support and practical advice from other mothers who understand this journey. Overall, with the right pump, tailored schedule, and supply management strategies, exclusive pumping can be a sustainable and fulfilling breastfeeding method even beyond several months postpartum.
