Recommended Piercing After care
Step 1: SOAKING
fully submerging your piercing in a plain warm water soak is the MOST helpful thing you can do during the healing process. You can do this in the shower, or with a coffee mug, or a steamy warm washcloth.
benefits:
1) opens up the channel to release itchy discharge
2) helps reduce swelling &redness
3) prevents bacteria from harboring onto the jewelry
some people use salt in the warm water but it's not necessary if you have drier/ sensitive skin.
Step 2: WASHING
after rinsing, get an antibacterial non-scented soap, lather it up so it's nice and bubbly and gently scrub off any discharge or crusties on/around your piercing. Lastly, rinse off any left over bubbles & discharge. do not soak your piercing in soapy water, simply wash as you wash your hands. :)
Additional Tips:
ā¢Do not use any rubbing alcohols, essential oils, etc.
ā¢Downsize jewelry as needed (ask your piercer about this)
ā¢Do not sleep on your new piercings
ā¢Avoid touching piercings unless cleaning
ā¢Avoid submerging your new piercings in pools/ jacuzzis/ oceans/ lakes, for the first two months
ā¢Saline sprays are helpful, but should NOT be a substitute for the recommended cleaning process.
