This new app is finally coming to iPad!

Okay, so the Journal app has literally been iPhone-only this whole time, which is wild because like… we all know the iPad is the perfect journaling device. I’m so glad that with iPadOS 26, they’re finally bringing it to iPad and even macOS too. It’s about time. I’ve been using digital planners and Notes, but having a proper Apple app just for journaling? That’s going to be such a nice switch. If you’re on the iPadOS 26 beta, you might already have access, but if not, just wait for the fall, it’s coming!!

... Read moreIf you’re into digital note-taking or education apps on iPad, the new Journal app on iPadOS 26 brings features that truly elevate your journaling experience. Unlike basic note apps, you can create multiple journals to keep different topics organized — think travel, poetry, or fitness journals all in one place. One feature I found really helpful is the ability to add images inline with your text, not just in separate media areas, which makes entries more vibrant and personal. For those who enjoy hand lettering or sketches, the app supports drawings and handwriting, whether you use an Apple Pencil or your finger. What’s really exciting is the map interface showing where you wrote your entries, adding a spatial context that's perfect for reflecting on trips or different experiences. This makes it an excellent fit not only for personal use but also for educators looking to incorporate journaling into their curriculum. If you’re waiting for the official release, keep an eye on the iPadOS 26 beta if you’re adventurous, but the full app rollout is coming this fall. Having this dedicated journaling app directly on iPad bridges the gap between creative expression and practical planning, enhancing both productivity and mindfulness on a device many of us already love.
