everything I did in Beijing (pt 1)

... Read moreVisiting Beijing offers an incredible blend of historical landmarks and vibrant city life, and one of the highlights has to be the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall. From my experience, taking the shuttle bus and then using the skylift to ascend saved a lot of energy, making the hike more enjoyable despite the steep steps. The toboggan ride back down is an absolute must for thrill-seekers and adds a playful twist to the adventure. Compared to the more tourist-heavy Badaling, Mutianyu provided a more scenic and less crowded atmosphere, which made the experience more peaceful and personal. When it comes to dining, trying local spots near these major attractions is key. I found that restaurants around the Great Wall, although sometimes serving oily dishes, offer satisfying meals that refuel you after the long hikes. A personal favorite stop was the Qingfeng Steamed Dumpling Shop near Jingshan Park, where the bustling atmosphere and hearty food left a lasting impression despite the slightly salty zhajiangmian sauce. This place reflects the authentic tastes of Beijing's street food scene, which every visitor should explore. The Forbidden City is undeniably massive, and booking a guided tour greatly enhances understanding of its rich history. The guide’s passion and knowledge brought the ancient palace to life. After several hours of walking through this historical marvel, heading over to nearby Jingshan Park provides a tranquil retreat with a stunning vantage point over the city. The park’s connection to the Ming Dynasty’s dramatic history adds a deeper layer of interest to the visit. For a change of pace, exploring the HeHua Market in the ShiChaHai area was a delightful experience. Its historic lakeside setting makes it perfect for romantic strolls or casual shopping for unique souvenirs. Nearby, the Siji Minfu Roast Duck Restaurant offers a taste of Beijing’s famous Peking duck, complete with a premium ambiance and rooftop seating. Although slightly overrated, it’s worth indulging in at least once when in town. Overall, Beijing blends rich cultural landmarks, scenic spots, and genuine street food experiences. Planning your itinerary to include these must-see places along with local eateries will ensure a well-rounded and memorable trip to China’s capital.

A lot of you requested for itinerary! ✈️ day 1 reach Beijing at 7am ✈️ day 9 9am! So you have almost full 8 days feedback: we went with parents and all of us felt the pace was just nice without rushing anywhere. Time was very flexible as well if you wanna extend your time at some places.

What did I ate in Beijing?
Sharing some of the delicious food I tried in Beijing — and the best part is, most of these are easy to find, so you don’t have to go out of your way to hunt them down! 1. Nanmen Shuarou (南门涮肉) There are plenty of outlets across Beijing, but their main branch just outside the Temple of Heaven.
