Look 👀 our potatoes are growing in our garden

... Read moreStarting a potato garden can be incredibly rewarding, especially when using a raised garden bed like I have. I found this method helpful because it improves drainage and soil aeration, which potatoes love. When I planted only potatoes this year, I noticed the green tops pushing through the soil quite early, signaling healthy growth. For beginners, it’s essential to choose seed potatoes from a reliable source and prepare your garden bed with rich, loose soil. I recommend adding compost and organic matter before planting to boost nutrients. Make sure your raised bed gets plenty of sunlight since potatoes need around 6-8 hours of sun every day. Watering is another key factor; keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy to avoid rot. As the shoots grow, gradually hill up soil around the stems to encourage more tuber development. Watching the potatoes pop up through the soil is a great sign they’re thriving! Organic approaches minimize the need for harsh chemicals, supporting healthy plants and better-tasting potatoes. From my experience, patience and regular care make a big difference, turning a small patch into a bountiful potato harvest. Whether you have a large garden or a cozy raised bed, growing your own potatoes can be a deeply satisfying gardening adventure.

GOT SPROUTED POTATOES???
Got sprouted potatoes? Don’t toss them—plant them! Cut into chunks with at least one ‘eye’ per piece, let them dry for a day, then plant in loose soil 3-4 inches deep. Keep them watered, and in a few months, you’ll have a fresh harvest! #GrowYourOwnFood #PotatoPlantingTips #backyardgarden #
