🌿 Salve for Cuts, Scrapes, & Bug Bites🌿
I stopped using triple antibiotic creams years ago. Why? It actually disrupts your skins microbiome 😭…
Enough with synthetic otc creams for minor cuts, scrapes, or bug bites. Instead use my fave 100% natural salve crafted with organic yarrow, purple dead nettle, calendula-infused olive oil, frankincense oil, and beeswax. Here’s why it beats neosporin and all those other otc creams:
💚Yarrow: I like to call it nature’s band-aid because stops bleeding, reduces inflammation, and speeds healing with its antimicrobial properties!
💜Purple Dead Nettle: Soothes itching and redness (goodbye, bug-bite misery!) with its antihistamine properties.
💛 Calendula: Skin-regeneration properties stimulates collagen and repairs tissue without harsh chemicals.
🧡Frankincense Oil: Fights bacteria and calms irritation.
🐝 Beeswax: Locks in moisture while creating a protective barrier against dirt and germs.
Why my first aid salve?
- Nourishes your skin’s microbiome instead of disrupting it.
- Free from petroleum byproducts—just creations healing power, thank you JESUS!

You know how frustrating it can be when a bug bite just won't stop itching, right? Or when your little one gets a tiny rash from playing outside? That's exactly why I love having this DIY herbal first aid salve on hand! It's been a total game-changer for our family, especially during summer. I used to reach for those conventional anti-itch creams, but once I learned about their potential side effects and how they can mess with your skin's natural balance, I knew I needed a better way. This salve isn't just for minor cuts and scrapes; it truly shines as a natural anti-itch remedy. The purple dead nettle in it is an absolute superhero! I've been amazed at how quickly it calms down angry, red bug bites. Seriously, after applying a tiny bit, the itch just... fades. It's such a relief, especially when you're trying to avoid scratching a bite until it breaks the skin. I've even found it helpful for those minor skin irritations or dry patches that sometimes pop up, giving a gentle soothing effect that's so much better than harsh chemicals. Making this skin salve with me at home is surprisingly simple, and it gives you so much control over what goes onto your skin. We talk about adding ingredients like dried calendula flowers and yarrow flowers, infused in organic olive oil. These aren't just fillers; they're packed with healing properties. Calendula is fantastic for skin regeneration, helping those little scrapes heal beautifully, and yarrow is nature's own antiseptic and anti-inflammatory, great for preventing infection in minor cuts. When you're making it, don't worry too much about perfection. The key is gently infusing those herbs in a double boiler to extract their medicinal properties. After you strain the oil, you add a few drops of frankincense oil and some beeswax pellets to get that perfect salve consistency. I always make sure to have plenty of containers ready because once you start using this, you'll want it everywhere! It's so satisfying to fill those little containers with your own homemade goodness. Beyond just the ingredients, I love that this salve helps nurture your skin's microbiome instead of disrupting it. It’s a gentle approach to healing, letting your body do its thing with a little natural boost. For kiddos, it's such a relief to have something effective and worry-free for their everyday bumps and scrapes, or those pesky mosquito bites. Just a thin layer is usually all you need to bring relief. For storage, these homemade salves generally last about a year if kept in a cool, dark place. Just make sure your containers are clean and airtight. It's become my absolute go-to for pretty much any minor skin woe, from cuts, burns, and scrapes to those annoying bug bites. Give it a try, you might just find your new favorite natural remedy and ditch those conventional creams for good!
