3 biggest lessons healing has taught me so far….
✨To truly choose your happiness is easy - the filtering and maintenance is the hard part.✨
1. Setting Boundaries: Before becoming a mother, I was very much a “yes” girl; craving approval and consistently seeking it as well. It didn’t matter who it was. For the first time in my life, I am setting up fences and only opening the latch when people deserve it. (I’m still practicing)….It is as freeing as they say. Setting healthy boundaries is protecting my family and my peace. It’s the most important, cherished thing to me right now.
2. Backtracking: As a perfectionist, reverting to old ways/thoughts is not ideal. But healing is constant recalling and coming back from it - at least from my perspective. HEALING IS NOT LINEAR. We have deep emotions and when those get abused it’s easy to blame yourself and think of what else you could’ve done in situations. I learned that I have to be okay when I backtrack because I’m human and I’m not perfect.
3. Self (Tough) Love: I’m not perfect right? I am able to make mistakes - even if it’s over and over. But it’s pointless if you don’t learn something each time you make it. At some point you have to ask if there’s a version of yourself that could be at fault for situations that you’re in. And although I advocate for compassion to oneself, I also know that you can’t achieve self compassion without self criticism. Being self aware is a blessing and a curse. I learned that I’m allowed to love myself while also giving myself some tough love to ensure those mistakes don’t continue to repeat.
I’m a toddler mom to a sweet, energetic boy. I have severe eldest daughter syndrome and on top of that I am a Filipino immigrant. I am just getting started. Follow me on my journey to self-healing if you like 🫶🏽
Take care ✨

Healing is a deeply personal and ongoing journey that often challenges our preconceived notions of growth and self-care. The lesson that "healing is not linear" is particularly important, as it reminds us that setbacks and backtracking are natural parts of emotional recovery. Embracing this non-linear process helps reduce self-blame and encourages patience and compassion for oneself. Setting boundaries emerges as a powerful tool in preserving mental health and fostering healthy relationships. For many people, especially those who have been conditioned to seek approval, learning to say "no" and protect personal space and peace can be revolutionary. It strengthens resilience, reduces stress, and supports family wellbeing. The concept of "tough love" toward oneself addresses the balance between self-compassion and accountability. Healthy self-awareness involves recognizing mistakes without harsh judgment and using those lessons to prevent recurring patterns. This dual approach promotes personal responsibility while nurturing inner kindness. For parents and caregivers, especially those balancing roles like working from home or coping with cultural pressures, integrating these healing lessons can provide clarity and empowerment. The added context of being a Filipino immigrant and managing eldest daughter syndrome reflects the diverse challenges shaping this healing path. Incorporating regular self-reflection, mindful boundary setting, and compassionate yet firm self-evaluation creates a sustainable framework for long-term emotional health. By committing to these principles, individuals can enhance their resilience, foster genuine happiness, and cultivate a more peaceful, balanced life.
