... Read moreManaging Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) often feels like navigating a maze with incomplete information. From personal experience and extensive research, I've realized that insulin resistance plays a pivotal role in many PCOS symptoms but is frequently overlooked during consultations with gynecologists. Insulin resistance means your body’s cells don't respond well to insulin, causing your pancreas to produce more insulin to compensate. This excess insulin can signal the ovaries to release more testosterone, which then leads to symptoms like acne, weight gain around the belly, and irregular or absent menstrual cycles. Understanding this connection has been a game-changer for me and many others managing PCOS. One effective strategy I've embraced is adjusting my diet to control insulin spikes. This includes increasing fiber intake, reducing processed sugars, and eliminating frequent snacking. Contrary to popular belief, managing insulin doesn’t always require intermittent fasting; simple lifestyle changes can make a significant difference. Staying informed about the metabolic aspects of PCOS allowed me to advocate better for my health. I also found that discussing insulin resistance openly with healthcare providers led to more comprehensive treatment plans, including lifestyle advice beyond just hormonal pills. It's empowering to know that controlling insulin levels not only helps reduce testosterone production but can also improve fertility and skin health. For anyone dealing with PCOS, focusing on insulin management is a crucial step that often makes the invisible visible and the uncontrollable manageable.

Do doctors even listen anymore?
It’s scary how often “healthcare” feels like an assembly line. Doctors rush. Patients shrink. And somehow, you start feeling guilty for wanting to be heard. The system isn’t just broken — it’s burnt out. But we still deserve care that listens, not just prescribes. Have you ever left an appoint

Do doctors even listen anymore?
I don’t expect doctors to be superheroes. I just expect them to know more than me and my iPhone. And yet… there I was, sitting in a cold exam room, explaining months of symptoms I’d tracked, researched, and even rehearsed… only for him to pull out his phone and use ChatGPT for my symptoms. Right

I went to the doctor recently because I’ve been dealing with some symptoms that had me worried… and right there in front of me, my doctor literally typed my exact symptoms into Google. 😳 I get it—medicine is constantly evolving, and no one can possibly memorize every single condition or presenta

I’ve been shocked by how dismissive doctors can be! You know your body, you know when something is wrong, but finding a doctor who’s willing to figure it out with you is apparently so rare?? I think as women we tend to be more easily dismissed by doctors too. I’ve been feeling so discouraged by
