It is a small gland in the base of the brain, but it plays a very important role because it controls the secretion of many hormones, like the "command center" of the endocrine system throughout the body.
Hormones from the pituitary are related to:

Alarm that may indicate "abnormal hormones"

It can be caused by a lump or a pituitary area that presses the optic nerve.
