Why I Stopped Running and Started Lifting

I used to think running was the key to fat loss. I’d spend hours on the treadmill, but the results were minimal.

Then I discovered circuit training…a blend of strength and cardio that reshaped my body and mindset. Here’s why I made the switch and how it changed everything.

Wellness habits: Progress didn’t start when I went harder. It started when I got consistent with the basics

Additional Tips: Commit to 20 minutes of intentional movement, 5x per week.

It can be strength circuits, a walk with your weighted vest, mobility work, or low-impact plyos.

The goal? Show up consistently, not perfectly. # #my fitness journey #trackyourprogress #bodytransformation #summerbod

... Read moreCircuit training uniquely combines strength and cardio, allowing for full-body activation and minimal equipment use, making it an efficient workout choice for many. Unlike steady running, circuit training challenges various muscles, which can lead to better overall body composition and sustainability in fat loss. Many individuals find themselves plateauing with long duration cardio; intended weight loss may stall, leaving them unmotivated. The circuit training approach, on the other hand, emphasizes shorter bursts of intense movement that keep the heart rate elevated while simultaneously building strength. For those looking to maximize their training effectiveness, consider starting with just 20 minutes of circuit workouts five times a week. This could include a mixture of strength circuits, mobility work, or even low-impact plyometric exercises. Consistency over perfection is key to maintaining motivation and achieving desired results. Engaging in intended workouts with purpose helps build a sense of accountability, contributing to a fitness journey that feels rewarding. Many trainers, including myself, guide clients through these foundational movements early in their programs, emphasizing the vitality of circuit training for real progress.
