Healthy hair journey
Just because I liked my hair!
I’m on my way to more healthy hair. But I’m loving my new cut! Still have some over processed parts but over all healthy. No more TikTok hair trends for me 🥴
Hey everyone! So glad you're following along on my healthy hair journey. Seeing my hair transform from overprocessed to genuinely healthy has been such a rewarding experience, and I wanted to share some of the real talk behind it. When I mentioned ditching those TikTok trends, I really meant it! It’s so easy to get caught up in viral hacks that promise instant results but can actually do more harm than good in the long run. What I’ve learned is that truly healthy hair isn’t about a single magic product or a fleeting trend; it’s about consistent, gentle care. For me, that started with understanding what my hair actually needed. I used to rely heavily on heat styling and chemical treatments, which left my hair brittle and prone to breakage. Now, I focus on nourishing my scalp and strands from within. My goal is always that natural bounce and shine, not just a temporary fix. Here are a few things that have made a huge difference for me, pushing me closer to those 'healthy hair images' we all admire: Gentle Cleansing & Conditioning: I switched to sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners, which are much kinder to my hair's natural oils. I also learned that over-washing can strip natural oils, so I’ve cut down to washing 2-3 times a week. When I condition, I really let it sit for a few minutes, sometimes even doing a deep conditioning mask once a week. This extra absorption time makes a noticeable difference. Heat Protection is KEY: If I absolutely have to use heat, I never skip a good heat protectant. But honestly, I try to air dry as much as possible now, or use low heat settings on my blow dryer if I’m in a rush. Embracing my natural texture has been liberating! Regular Trims: My new cut felt amazing, and it reminded me how crucial regular trims are to get rid of split ends. Even if you’re trying to grow your hair, a small trim every 8-12 weeks can prevent damage from traveling up the hair shaft and keep your ends looking fresh and full. Nourishment from Within: I've been focusing on a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals, and drinking plenty of water. Hair health really does start from the inside out; what you put into your body shows up in your hair. Protective Styles: For bedtime, I've started sleeping with a silk pillowcase or a loose braid. This significantly reduces friction and breakage overnight, especially if you toss and turn a lot. It’s not always easy, and there are still days where my hair isn't perfect, but seeing the overall improvement in shine, strength, and reduced breakage makes it all worth it. My biggest advice? Listen to your hair, and don't be afraid to keep it simple. What are your go-to healthy hair tips?
