Raising boys has taught me to appreciate the vibrant energy and messiness that come with it. While the noise and chaos might feel overwhelming at times, they are signs of a lively and happy household filled with growth and learning. For example, I’ve found that allowing boys to wrestle and engage in rough play not only helps them burn off energy but also fosters their confidence and resilience. It might seem messy or noisy, but this kind of play is essential in childhood development. Another thing I didn’t expect to love is seeing how they thrive when given the chance to explore dirt, mud, and grass. I used to worry about messes, but now I realize that these experiences help build their creativity and connection with nature. I also encourage independence by letting them figure things out at their own pace, which is slower and sometimes messier but ultimately empowering for them. Boredom, too, has become a friend rather than a foe. I don't feel the need to entertain them constantly; instead, I challenge them to find activities themselves, which sparks their imagination and inclusion with siblings or friends. This approach reduces screen time and promotes healthier, more active play. All in all, being a boy mom means embracing imperfection and loving the wild, confident, joyful children I’m raising. The chaos is temporary, but the confidence and happiness built during these noisy, messy days last a lifetime.
