I wasn't looking for just any roast line; I wanted constructive criticism that would help me grow. Think of it as getting a detailed 'paragraph roast' for your online persona. It's not about tearing someone down, but about receiving objective feedback on how your content comes across. My feed, which features a collage of everything from makeup tutorials to food photos, children's activities, and general daily life updates, was becoming a bit of a chaotic grid of nine posts. I realized I needed a fresh perspective. The goal was to understand if my feed conveyed a clear message or if it was just a collection of random moments. I shared screenshots and links to my various platforms—my TikTok for makeup, another TikTok for diverse content, and my Instagram and YouTube accounts—and asked for a genuine critique. The ChatBox conversation I had really highlighted the core issue: my interests were incredibly varied, which is fine in real life, but online, it looked less like authenticity and more like a lack of direction. People pointed out that while each individual post might be good, collectively, they didn't form a cohesive theme. It was like having a great set of ingredients but no recipe, leading to a visual mishmash. The 'roast' wasn't about being mean, but about pointing out areas for improvement. One common piece of feedback was the lack of a consistent aesthetic. My posts, while reflecting my life, didn't have a unified look or feel. Another important point was about organized categories. Even with diverse interests, I could categorize my content better to make navigation easier for followers. This makes sense when you consider how quickly people scroll; a disjointed feed can lead to them clicking away because they can't immediately grasp what you're about. Create Content Pillars/Organized Categories: If you're like me and have a TikTok for makeup and another for diverse content, consider how you present them on a single platform like Instagram. Could you have specific highlight reels or themed days? This helps organize your feed for your audience. Audit Your Older Posts: Scroll through your feed as if you're a new visitor. What's your first impression? Does it tell a clear story? If someone asked you to give a 'paragraph roast' of your own feed, what would you say needs work? Seek Honest External Feedback: Sometimes, like me, you need to let others give you a 'roast to say to your enemy' (but for your feed, not a person!) to truly see your blind spots.
