running should be fun !!!!🤸♀️
Running with kids can be a unique and rewarding experience that makes the activity more enjoyable for the whole family. From my personal experience, one of the best ways to keep running fun is to embrace the spontaneity and excitement that children bring. When my child asked me to take him for a run, I initially worried about pacing and distance, but soon realized it's more about connecting and sharing the moment. Using apps like STRAVA helps track progress in a lighthearted way without the pressure of competition. For example, when my 8-year-old and I ran a mile together at a pace around 10:26 per mile, it became an opportunity to celebrate small victories and build confidence. Encouraging youngsters to choose routes or set fun goals, like spotting certain landmarks, keeps them engaged. Additionally, mixing up the routine with playful elements such as running games or turning a run into an adventure can motivate kids to look forward to these outings. Remember, the key is to focus on enjoyment rather than performance. When you prioritize fun, running not only becomes less of a chore but also strengthens bonds and creates lasting memories.
