Union to Amsterdam Brewhouse

2/27 Edited to

... Read moreI recently decided to spice up my usual routine by running from the station to Amsterdam Brewhouse for a work gathering. With the temperature dipping low, walking didn't seem appealing, so I chose to run the 0.76 km distance instead. This brisk pace not only helped me warm up but also provided an energizing start before enjoying a relaxing meal on the restaurant’s beautiful waterfront patio. Using a Garmin watch, I tracked my run at an average pace of 5:57 per kilometer, with a total time of 4 minutes 32 seconds and an average heart rate of 139 bpm. These numbers gave me useful feedback on my fitness level, reminding me how a short run to a social event can count as part of my daily workout. Combining exercise with social gatherings is a great way to maintain fitness goals without feeling like you're missing out on important work or social events. Especially during winter, finding ways to stay active and warm is crucial. Running to the venue was a perfect solution — it saved me from the cold while making the experience more rewarding. I recommend others try this approach if they have accessible locations nearby, like restaurants or cafes. It turns a simple commute into a fun workout and reduces time spent sitting still in cold weather. Plus, fueling up afterward with a good meal and some craft beer at Amsterdam Brewhouse adds a satisfying reward to your effort. Overall, this experience showed me that small adjustments to your routine, like running to a meet-up instead of walking or taking transit, can improve both physical health and social life. It’s a win-win for those wanting to stay active and connected during the chillier months.

80/20 Rule | DO or DONT?
If you aren't a bodybuilder or working with a coach on a meal plan...DO! And here's why. I like to keep a decent balance in what I eat without going overboard in either direction. Like, restricting too much and eating 3 servings of Cinnamon Toast Crunch because I didn't let myself ha
