Mild winter 10km
Winter, milder weather day. Perfect for an outdoor 10km run.
Diet update, I reduced my calories. I had not realized that I was using a maintenance goal for calories. But I want to cut a bit so my new goal is 1500 for most days.
Running outdoors during the milder winter days can be incredibly refreshing and motivating. I recently completed a 10.74 km run at an average pace of 5:21 per kilometer, which felt challenging but rewarding. One of the key factors I noticed during this run was the near-perfect weather — only minor wet patches along the route. This made the experience enjoyable and allowed me to focus on pacing and endurance rather than harsh weather conditions. Managing my diet alongside my running schedule has been a crucial part of my training regimen. I realized I had been consuming maintenance calories unknowingly, which limited fat loss and body composition goals. Adjusting my calorie intake to around 1500 calories most days has helped me create a slight calorie deficit, promoting fat loss while still fueling my runs adequately. From my experience, balancing calories without sacrificing energy is essential, especially for longer runs like 10 kilometers. I monitored my heart rate, maintaining an average of 155 bpm, which indicates a moderate effort level suitable for building endurance without excessive fatigue. If you're interested in winter running, I recommend proper hydration and choosing routes that are clear of ice or heavy snow to avoid slipping. Wearing moisture-wicking layers and adjusting your diet according to your training intensity can significantly improve your running performance and overall well-being. Winter running not only enhances your physical fitness but also boosts mental stamina. The crisp air and less crowded trails create a peaceful environment, making every run a refreshing experience. Keep track of your pace, listen to your body, and adjust your nutrition to support your goals. Happy running!
