Making this for the businesses out there that aren’t sure why their views aren’t translating into customers 🤡
From personal experience working with multiple business social media accounts, I've noticed a recurring challenge: many companies see impressive view counts on posts and reels but struggle to convert these views into actual customers. One important factor is understanding audience engagement beyond raw numbers. For example, reviewing metrics like skip rates and average watch time can reveal whether viewers find your content compelling enough to stay until the end. A high skip rate or low average watch time often indicates that the content is not holding attention or compelling viewers to take further action. Another critical insight is knowing where your views come from. If a significant portion of views is coming from non-followers or through broad channels like the Explore tab, but without meaningful interaction (likes, shares, follows), it’s a signal that the content is not resonating deeply. Engagement metrics such as shares and follows are more telling indicators of potential conversion readiness than just view counts. Optimizing your content to tell a clear story or solve a problem that your target audience faces increases retention and trust. Adding calls to action that are natural, relevant, and easy for viewers to respond to can help bridge the gap between watching and purchasing. Additionally, leveraging insights about demographic and geographic data, such as the top languages your views come from or the regions engaging most, allows for tailoring your messaging more effectively. For instance, if 50% of your views come from international audiences speaking Hindi or Spanish, consider adding translated captions or localized content. Finally, be mindful of the platform’s algorithms. Timing of posts, type of content (videos vs photos), and interaction responses all shape how your content is distributed and who sees it. Consistency in posting and responding to comments builds community and credibility, which eventually fosters conversions. In my own trials, I’ve seen that small tweaks like reducing the initial skip rate by hooking the viewer within the first 3 seconds, and incorporating user-generated reviews or testimonials, can significantly improve conversion outcomes from your views. It’s about moving beyond vanity metrics and focusing on meaningful engagement that relates directly to your business goals.
