Matcha in Fukuoka Japan 🇯🇵🍵

I'm sure you heard of Uji matcha. Check out Yame matcha! Yame City is suitable environment for cultivating high quality tea.

Oishi Tea Factory is located in Kurume City, Fukuoka prefecture. It is a 30 min drive from Kurume station, highly recommend renting a car to get to this place. It has massive tea fields, a cafe on the 2nd floor with view of the tea fields and a shop on the 1st floor that sells matcha, hojicha, gyokuro, bancha, powders, tools, souvenirs and more. Yame tea is well-known for its richness of flavour.

... Read moreIf you're a fan of traditional Japanese teas, visiting Yame City in Fukuoka Prefecture offers a unique experience beyond the popular Uji matcha. Yame's climate and fertile soil create an ideal environment for cultivating some of the highest quality teas, known for their deep, rich flavor profiles that tea connoisseurs admire. When you visit the Oishi Tea Factory in Kurume City, you're not just observing tea production; you're immersing yourself in a landscape dotted with massive, lush tea fields that stretch as far as the eye can see. The factory's second-floor cafe overlooks these fields, offering a peaceful setting to savor freshly brewed matcha and other teas like hojicha, gyokuro, and bancha. For authentic tea lovers, the factory shop is a treasure trove. You can find various grades of matcha, including ceremonial and everyday use, alongside tea powders, brewing tools, and charming Japanese souvenirs. Many visitors recommend renting a car from Kurume Station to fully enjoy the rural beauty and convenience of reaching this hidden gem approximately 30 minutes away. Personally, spending an afternoon here felt like stepping into a serene tea lover's paradise. The aroma of freshly ground matcha, the sweet earthiness of hojicha, and the delicate floral notes of gyokuro all come together to tell the story of Yame’s dedication to tea craftsmanship. Whether you're a seasoned tea drinker or new to Japanese tea culture, this experience deepens your appreciation for how regional environments influence tea flavor and tradition. In short, if your travels bring you to Fukuoka, a detour to Yame and the Oishi Tea Factory is well worth it—not only to taste exceptional matcha but also to enjoy a scenic, calming atmosphere that perfectly complements the art of tea.
