The last few days have been really heavy. Grief has a way of sneaking up on you, and some days it feels harder than others.
Then Flambo walked over, pressed "Mom"... and then "Friend." 🥹❤️
Whether he meant, "Mom, you're my friend," or was just reminding me that I wasn't alone it was exactly what I needed in that that day.
I’ve been good about everything day by day but I think with Espeon’s passing anniversary coming up as well as mourning Rupert it’s just been harder. But in every dark season there are little glimmers of light even if you don’t want to see them, they’re there. This…was my glimmer.
Hold onto your glimmers. They matter more than you know #dogsoftiktok #fyp #australianshepherd #dogsthattalk #talkingdog
Grief is something I never expected to encounter so deeply until recent times. When you lose a beloved pet, it's like losing a family member. The pain creeps in silently, and some days feel heavier than others. But what I’ve learned through this experience is the powerful comfort that animals can offer when we need it most. In my case, Flambo, my Australian Shepherd, did something that spoke volumes without words. When he pressed “Mom” and then “Friend” on his talking device, it was more than just a cute trick—it was a genuine gesture reminding me that I’m not alone. Whether he was saying “Mom, you’re my friend” or simply offering reassurance, in that moment, it reminded me of the bond we share and gave me a needed glimmer of hope in a tough day. Anniversaries of loss can trigger waves of emotions I wasn’t fully prepared for. With Espeon’s passing anniversary nearing, alongside mourning Rupert, the emotions became overwhelming. Yet, little moments, like Flambo’s message, serve as tiny lights cutting through the darkness. I’ve found that holding onto these glimmers—the small signs of love and companionship—can help one navigate the stormy seas of grief. If you’re dealing with loss, remember that your pet’s unique ways of showing affection can be incredibly healing. These moments reaffirm that even in sorrow, joy and connection still exist, sometimes in surprising ways. Cherish those signs and allow yourself to be comforted by the love around you, no matter how it shows up. It's these bonds that help us find peace and keep moving forward.
