Food Review: Turkey Panini
Hi there! I’m back with another food review!
Today’s recipe is a Turkey Panini with regular potato chips. This recipe is quite new to me and the reason I wanted to make this sandwich is because on a recent trip to Austin, I had one of the most delicious panini’s I’ve ever had! My trip was to the Texas Capitol and we ate at the Capitol Grill. They had three different stations and I ordered a hot lunch and that was a turkey panini.
That panini had Cheddar (didn’t specify if it was sharp or anything like that) and provolone cheese on either side of the turkey. It was simple and tasty! So as I was planning our meals for the week, I thought of that panini sandwich and thought “I should make that!” so I did! For this recipe I used:
2 slices of wheat bread (1 loaf of fresh bread: $3.98)
2 slices of provolone cheese (1 Package of Great Value thin sliced cheese: $2.24)
2 slices of hickory smoked bacon (1 Package of Great Value bacon: $5.44)
4 slices of turkey (1 Package of Great Value Mesquite Smoked turkey: $3.96; I actually got two of these because I love a good ol’ regular turkey sandwich 🤭)
These items were purchased at my local Walmart.
Step 1: Cook the bacon! I sliced the two slices in half so that they fit inside the sandwich perfectly. I cooked the bacon on a small skillet pan.
Step 2: Putting aside the rest of the bacon grease, put a slice of bread on the skillet pan and let it heat up, (I flipped the bread so it can heat up both sides) then and one slice of cheese, the four slices of turkey, the four small pieces of bacon, and the other slice of cheese, then the other slice of bread.
Step 3: With another pan or another kitchen utensil that is slightly heave and press down on the sandwich on both sides until it is to your liking.
Served with a side of regular potato chips and a cup of water!
Overall rating: 9/10: The reason I gave my own sandwich a 9/10 is because I accidentally burned my bacon! But it was still good nonetheless! So tasty I made two!
(other sandwich is not pictured; I was super hungry 😋)
