👧Skin then vs. now😱

About a year ago I was struggling with a severe case of what I at first thought was acne. Turns out I had something called “contact dermatitis”.

There was something causing my skin to break out, an unknown variable. So I switched out pretty much every product I used on or near my face.

When I went on vacation,my face completely cleared up. When I got back home and started driving my own car again, I broke out again.

My skin was getting infected from my steering wheel falling apart (I have a very old car) and it blowing into my face from the windows being down (I have no AC).

Once I wrapped up my steering wheel with ace tape and slapped a steering wheel cover on that bad boy my face completely cleared up along with the treatment from my dermatologist.

... Read moreHey everyone! So many of you have probably been where I was – looking in the mirror and wondering why your forehead looks like something is just... sticking out. I mean, those little bumps and persistent redness, especially on my forehead, made me think it was just stubborn acne. But boy, was I wrong! It turned out to be contact dermatitis, and it was a real journey to figure out the cause and get my skin back to normal. When I say 'sticking out,' I'm talking about those raised, inflamed areas, sometimes itchy, sometimes just red patches that seemed to stubbornly cling to my forehead and other parts of my face. It wasn't the typical whiteheads or blackheads I associated with acne, but more like an angry, bumpy texture that showed up on my forehead, cheeks, and chin. Seeing those images of my 'then' skin with visible contact dermatitis really takes me back. My dermatologist was a lifesaver, helping me understand that contact dermatitis is basically an allergic reaction or irritation from something touching your skin. For me, it was my car's old steering wheel shedding tiny particles onto my face, especially with the windows down because I have no AC. But for you, it could be anything! Think about what touches your forehead regularly: your phone, glasses, hair products, maybe even a new detergent on your pillowcase. It’s like being a detective for your own skin. If you're dealing with similar frustrating forehead breakouts or skin that feels oddly textured, here are a few things I learned that might help you on your journey: Observe and Track: Keep a skin diary! Note down new products, places you've been, or even clothes/accessories that touch your forehead. Does it flare up after wearing a hat or using a specific shampoo? Patch Testing is Key: If you suspect a product, try patch testing it on a small, less visible area of your skin for a few days before applying it all over. This can save you a lot of grief! Simplify Your Routine: Sometimes, less is more. Strip back your skincare to the bare essentials – a gentle cleanser, a basic moisturizer, and SPF. Introduce new products one at a time, slowly. Clean Your Environment: This was HUGE for me! Think about anything that regularly touches your face. Pillowcases, phone screens, sunglasses, headbands, even makeup brushes. Clean them regularly with a gentle, hypoallergenic cleaner. Seek Professional Help: Seriously, don't try to go it alone forever. A dermatologist can help differentiate between acne, contact dermatitis, rosacea, or other skin conditions. They might recommend specific treatments or even patch testing to identify allergens. Be Patient: Skin healing takes time. After I wrapped my steering wheel and got the right treatment, my skin didn't clear up overnight, but it definitely started its journey to that 'now' clear skin you see in my pictures. The transformation is real, and it’s so worth the effort. I hope my experience helps anyone out there frustrated with mysterious bumps or redness on their forehead. You're not alone, and there's a solution out there!
