Muji deco tapes

along with the compact pens, I also got these deco tape from Muji!

I got them in the dots and christmas tree designs; the dots are the standard PLUS deco rush sizes 6mm, while the christmas tree on is 10mm.

I like the minimal design but these somehow feel a bit less smooth to lay down the designs. not sure if i got a faulty one.

look at the last slide for swatches~

... Read moreAs a fellow stationery enthusiast, I totally get the excitement of unwrapping new Muji stationery! Those tiny details, the minimalist design – it's just so satisfying. When I saw you got the Muji deco tapes with the charming red dots design and the festive blue Christmas tree design, I instantly pictured all the ways they could jazz up a planner or journal. They look absolutely adorable, especially with the different sizes you mentioned, 6mm for the dots and 10mm for the Christmas tree. However, you touched on a point that many of us might encounter with new stationery: the application. You mentioned they felt "a bit less smooth to lay down the designs," and wondered if you got a faulty one. This immediately brings to mind the common question, "how do I fix this?" when a product doesn't perform exactly as expected. While these are decorative tapes, not correction tape, the desire for a flawlessly smooth application is universal across all tape types. It's frustrating when you envision a perfect line, but it comes out a little jagged or uneven. From my own experience with various decorative tapes, including ones similar to the PLUS Deco Rush tape you referenced, a few things can influence how smoothly they glide. Sometimes, it's about the angle you hold the dispenser. Too steep, and the tape might snag or lift prematurely; too flat, and you might not get enough pressure. I've found that a steady, gentle pressure applied evenly across the tape's width often yields the best results. It's also worth checking the surface you're applying it to – a perfectly flat, clean surface makes a huge difference compared to slightly textured paper or one with tiny bits of eraser dust. If the tape feels stiff or resistant, sometimes a slight wiggle or testing it on a scrap piece of paper can 'loosen' up the mechanism. It's rare for Muji stationery to be truly faulty, but even premium brands can have an occasional manufacturing quirk. If it continues to be an issue, some users find that gently cleaning the dispenser's roller (if accessible) can help, as tiny paper fibers can sometimes accumulate. Another quick fix for tapes that aren't laying down smoothly is to apply it slowly – resist the urge to rush! A slower, more deliberate motion often allows the adhesive to bond better and the design to transfer cleanly. These Muji deco tapes, with their unique designs, are perfect for adding personality to bullet journals, gift tags, or even sealing envelopes. Don't let a minor application hiccup overshadow the joy they bring! Often, a bit of practice and experimenting with different techniques can make all the difference. Keep enjoying your new Muji finds, and hopefully, with a few tweaks, those red dots and blue Christmas trees will lay down perfectly smooth for all your creative projects!
