It’s in your bread…

I’ve been talking about glyphosate and its harmful effects for years. A massive study that the FDA used to prove the safety of glyphosate was recently retracted because it was found to be ghostwritten by Monsanto, the company that created glyphosate.

Discovery in Monsanto/Bayer lawsuits has revealed internal company documents, known as the "Monsanto Papers," suggesting efforts to influence EPA assessments, ghostwrite scientific studies, and discredit independent research regarding Roundup's (glyphosate) safety. These documents point to manipulated data and a campaign to conceal cancer risks from regulators. 

* Key Discovery Findings: Documents showed that Monsanto officials sought to influence EPA scientists regarding the toxicity of glyphosate, the main ingredient in Roundup.

* "Ghostwritten" Research: Evidence emerged that Monsanto staff helped write scientific articles that appeared to be written by independent academics, which argued for the safety of glyphosate.

* Manipulating Studies: Emails indicated that Monsanto attempted to suppress or manipulate studies that found a link between glyphosate and cancer.

* Regulatory Impact: While the EPA has maintained that glyphosate is safe, discovery documents highlighted the agency's heavy reliance on industry-provided data in their evaluations.

So while the EPA deemed the amount of glyphosate in foods to be exponentially higher than what the EWG says is safe, based on the discovery information, above, I personally don’t trust this at all.

The EPA's continued reliance on industry-provided data, combined with these revelations about ghostwritten research, suggests that consumers should critically evaluate official claims about glyphosate safety. Advocating for independent, transparent studies can help push for stricter regulations and safer food. In conclusion, understanding the scope of glyphosate contamination and corporate tactics to obscure risks empowers us to make safer food choices. Reducing consumption of conventional grains and supporting clean-label brands are practical steps we can take to protect our health in light of this troubling evidence.
