Chocolate Chip Banana Bread with Brown Butter
nanerrrrrrrrr bread 🍌🍌🍌🍞 !!! never gets old !!! one of my favorite recipes that I’ve evolved over the years. brown butter, chocolate chips, super ripe bananas - everything you need for a perfect, perfect loaf! 💫 (and it all comes together in one bowl - a win!)
1 stick melted & browned butter (a must!!!!)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
4 overripe bananas - 3 mashed and 1 for the top!
2 eggs
as much vanilla extract as your heart desires
1 3/4 all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
Dash of cinnamon (optional)
3/4 cup chocolate chips and extra for the top
Add cooled brown butter and sugars to a bowl. Cream together until well combined. Mash your 3 bananas and mix. Add your eggs and vanilla and mix! Add flour, baking soda and salt and mix but don’t overmix. 🤪 Fold in cinnamon and chocolate chips and add batter to a greased or lined loaf pan. Optional but almost not optional - add chocolate chips and halved banana to the top. Bake at 350° for 50-60 min or until a toothpick comes out clean. You may need to add foil on top to avoid the top from browning too much. Let the loaf sit in the pan for 15 minutes then remove it and let it cool for about an hour on a wire rack. Cut, serve and enjoy!!!! 🙌

Brown butter is a key ingredient that elevates the classic banana bread by adding a rich, nutty flavor and aroma. When butter is melted and cooked just until the milk solids toast and turn golden brown, this process creates browned butter, which is then cooled before being mixed with sugars to enhance the bread's depth of flavor. Using overripe bananas is important as they provide natural sweetness and moisture, which results in a tender crumb. In addition to traditional ingredients like all-purpose flour, baking soda, and eggs, adding a dash of cinnamon can bring warmth and complexity to the taste profile, balancing the sweetness of bananas and chocolate chips. Incorporating semi-sweet chocolate chips throughout the batter adds delightful bursts of melted chocolate in each bite. Placing extra chocolate chips and halved bananas on top before baking creates an inviting and visually appealing loaf. To ensure even baking without excessive browning, covering the bread with foil towards the end of the baking time is recommended. Once baked, allowing the bread to rest in the pan helps it set for easier slicing, and cooling fully on a wire rack prevents sogginess. For best results, use a greased or parchment-lined loaf pan to prevent sticking. This recipe, coming together in one bowl, simplifies preparation and cleanup, making it ideal for busy home cooks wanting to create a comforting dessert or breakfast treat. Pair freshly baked slices with a cup of coffee or tea for an indulgent experience. This chocolate chip banana bread recipe is versatile and can be modified by adding nuts, dried fruits, or using different types of chocolate to suit personal preferences.
