These Banana Bread Chocolate Chip Cookies are a wonderfully inventive twist on classic cookies, combining the moist richness of banana bread with the indulgent flavor of chocolate chips. I’ve tried baking these several times, and one tip I’ve learned is to use a very ripe banana—the riper, the better—as it adds natural sweetness and moisture that really enhances the cookie texture. The balance of spices matters too; cinnamon adds warmth without overpowering the banana’s natural flavor. Melting the butter before mixing helps to keep the dough smooth and easy to stir, while using both brown and granulated sugar strikes a great balance between chewiness and crisp edges. When baking, I recommend keeping a close watch on the cookies after the 10-minute mark to avoid overbaking. The cookies should be set around the edges but still soft in the center when you pull them out. Let them cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to finish cooling. I also like to add a few extra chocolate chips on top of each cookie before baking—they melt slightly on the surface and make for an appealing look and extra chocolatey bites. Overall, this recipe is fantastic for using up ripe bananas and satisfies chocolate cravings in a unique cookie form. It’s perfect for sharing with friends, enjoying with afternoon tea, or packing as a sweet treat for lunch boxes.
