Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Needed

Ok real talk I need help I need advice. The cousin I’m a caregiver for doesn’t want to do anything but run the roads, she forgets we bought at least ten pair of panties recently and thinks she has none, same with jeans etc. We can’t shop everyday her husband would not be okay with this and I understand. We go walking etc but once she’s out there she’s too cold so now she doesn’t want to do that. I googled and found info on apps for the iPad because she showed willingness to do a bingo game I had on it but she doesn’t like it so I found MindMate in my research. I downloaded the app & registered her. We attempted with my guidance to do this app and that’s a no go. We practice her answering the phone everyday and she struggled with that today. So needless to say she was frustrated and things just weren’t as smooth as they usually go. Any suggestion on activities she could do? Anybody have experience in this? Help!!!!!

Engaging activities can help improve communication and cognitive function in patients. Consider memory-based games, simple art projects, or even nature walks to stimulate interaction and foster a sense of achievement for both caregiver and patient. Joining online forums or local caregiver support groups can provide a sense of community and understanding. These environments offer opportunities to share experiences, gain insights, and receive emotional support. Additionally, utilizing technology like specialized apps for cognitive engagement can be beneficial when tailored to the individual's interests. Remember, self-care for caregivers is equally important; taking time for personal interests and connecting with friends can replenish your energy and resilience. By approaching caregiving with compassion and flexibility, caregivers can create more enjoyable and fulfilling experiences, enhancing the quality of life for both themselves and those they care for.
