There are days when I'm just so over cleaning up the spilt milk and dropped food, or I just want to sleep in one day without being woken up by a tiny human. It feels like I'm constantly wishing away the hard bits, dreaming of a time when someone isn't always crying and I can just have a moment of quiet. This feeling of being a mentally exhausted mom is so real, and it's okay to admit it. The weight of motherhood can feel incredibly heavy sometimes. You might be tired of breastfeeding, longing for your body back, or just wanting your little one to fall asleep on their own without needing to snuggle in your arms. These aren't selfish thoughts; they're just honest reflections of how challenging this season of life can be. We pour so much into our kids, and it's natural to feel drained. But here’s the thing, and it’s something I’ve had to learn to remind myself of constantly: as heavy as the weight of motherhood can be, the love we have for our children is even heavier – in the best possible way. I might say, 'I can't wait until you can fall asleep on your own,' but then I realize that seeing them learn to sleep without me isn't any easier. The thought of them not needing me to comfort them in that special way anymore, or not having them eat at my table, or not waking up to their sweet face... it hits different. I recently saw a 'tired mom meme' that perfectly captured this bittersweet feeling. It showed a mom looking utterly exhausted but with a tiny hand grasping hers, and it just resonated so deeply. We might wish away the hard right now, but we know these days don't last forever. There will come a time when they won't need us for every little thing, and honestly, that thought makes me tear up a bit. So, when those tough moments hit – the endless cries, the messy meals, the tantrum on the floor – I try to pause. I try to remember that while I might want to scream, 'I just want to sleep in one day!' or 'I can't wait for the day when someone isn't always crying!', there will be a day when all I hear is silence, and I'll likely miss the beautiful chaos. It’s a constant battle between wanting a break and wanting to freeze time. For me, grounding myself means taking a deep breath and trying to truly see my kids in that moment, even the frustrating ones. It means reminding myself that this tiny human who always needed me will grow too fast. If you're a #momof2 or a #sahm like me, facing these daily struggles, know you're not alone.
