DIY Professionally Cleaning My Dogs’ Teeth 🦷🐶

A few days I posted about how we brush our dogs’ teeth, and shared some tips and treats that I have found helpful. Well, here I am again to share a product that I am absolutely in love with!
This is an Ultrasonic Scaler Dental Kit…FOR DOGS. It’s basically a similar type of tool as what they use on your teeth at the dentist office. In my other post I talked about Pup’s teeth but I will recap it here:
We rescued my dog, Pup Pup, a few years ago right off the street in Puerto Rico. He was around 4 years old and in bad shape. His teeth have always been horrible - loose front teeth, bad breath, etc. We’ve talked with our vet, and made sure we were brushing his teeth correctly and often. We also feed him a clean and healthy diet, all homemade. Our vet had told us about professional dental cleaning for dogs, where they put them under anesthesia. We really didn’t like the idea of putting him under, and she even said that it wasn’t necessary yet and to keep at the brushing.
Regular brushing is so important! Plaque can turn into tartar in as little as 3 days. So even just accidentally forgetting can have consequence. Once it starts it just continues to build up. I myself am guilty of forgetting to brush them and then realizing a few days have flown by.
A little bit ago I looked into non-anesthetic professional cleaning, and saw that there were a few places near-ish that offer this. However, you can’t be in the room with your dog. The prices of any of these services was crazy steep (for our current financial state). We’re talking at least $500-$1000.
So I started looking at the option of doing it myself. I looked online and watched tons of videos, and read up on what to do. I ended up getting this kit on Amazon, on sale for just $29! It came overnight, and after charging it up I introduced my dogs to it. Let them hear the sounds, smell it, etc. Then I got to work.
Now this isn’t for everyone or every dog. Some dogs will respond better than others and you need to be patient and gentle with them and their teeth. But these before and after pictures are just 1 day with 2 - 15 minutes sessions on them both. They also had some breaks during the sessions. I made sure to sanitize everything before and after, and gave them a gentle brushing afterwards.
LET ME TELL YOU, Pup’s breath has NEVER smelled better, his teeth have never been more beautiful, and for the first time ever I don’t feel gross when he’s licking my legs nonstop.
They took the cleaning extremely well, and I am so thrilled with this purchase. $29 people! $29 instead of $500-$1000. I still have to go in a do a little bit of fine cleaning, but the bulk of tartar is out. I am genuinely obsessed with this💛
