Luteal phase meal inspo ✨

About to enter my bleed 🩸, so here’s how I’m nourishing my body in my Luteal phase 🥰

... Read moreThe luteal phase can be a rollercoaster of emotions, energy dips, and, for many of us, intense cravings – especially for sugar! I've definitely been there, feeling that undeniable pull towards chocolate or anything sweet. But I've learned that by intentionally nourishing my body during this time, I can significantly ease those luteal phase symptoms and feel so much better. It's all about eating for your cycle and giving your body what it truly needs. For me, balancing blood sugar is key to tackling those luteal phase sugar cravings. That’s why my meals often start with plenty of protein. For breakfast, I love a plate of scrambled eggs with mixed greens. It keeps me full and helps maintain stable energy levels, preventing that mid-morning crash that often leads to reaching for unhealthy snacks. Protein is also crucial for maintaining muscle mass and overall well-being. When it comes to main meals, I focus on nutrient-dense options that support hormone balance and help with PMS. Wild-caught salmon is a superstar in my luteal phase diet. It's packed with omega-3s, which are fantastic for reducing PMS inflammation, and it’s a good source of Vitamin D. I often pair it with roasted sweet potatoes and lots of leafy greens – the fiber in these complex carbs helps with digestion and keeps those sugar cravings at bay. I also love to include mushrooms and cucumber slices for extra vitamins and hydration. Snacks and drinks are just as important! To reduce inflammation and satisfy those luteal cravings in a healthy way, I often reach for turmeric ginger tea. It's warming and feels like a hug from the inside. And yes, a gluten-free tahini chocolate chip cookie can totally be part of a balanced approach – it’s about mindful indulgence! Instead of coffee, I’ve found chai masala to be a wonderful low-caffeine, hormone-friendly alternative, rich in beneficial herbs and spices. In the evenings, a hot cacao with cinnamon, bee pollen, and rose petals is my absolute favorite. It’s not just delicious; it’s known for feeding feel-good hormones and helping balance blood sugar before bedtime. Beyond specific meals, I also enjoy a Luteal Phase Tonic which I make with red raspberry leaf, organic cranberry juice, and astragalus. It’s my little ritual to support my body as it prepares for my bleed. Eating this way really makes a difference in how I manage luteal phase symptoms. It's not just about what you eat, but also understanding why these foods are beneficial for your body during different phases of your cycle. While the luteal phase needs its specific attention, remember that eating for your cycle women is a holistic approach, where each phase (follicular, ovulation, and menstrual) has its unique nutritional requirements to help you thrive all month long. Listen to your body, experiment with these best foods for luteal phase, and find what makes you feel your best!
