🩷CANDIED FRUIT SKEWERS🩷
RECIPE ⬇️ 😋👏🌸🌸🌸 #funrecipes #candiedfruit #candyrecipe #fyp
INGREDIENTS:
•Fruit of your choice (I prefer fruit with skin to keep the juices in)
•2 cups sugar
•½ cup water
•½ cup karo syrup
•Dash of Vanilla + Edible glitter (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Wash a dry fruit. Be sure to blot dry as much juice as possible otherwise candy will not stick. Place on skewers and freeze while making candy mixture. Boil sugar, water, and karo syrup for about 10 minutes until mixture is 300 degrees. You will want a candy thermometer to check temperature. Remove from heat immediately. Add food coloring, edible glitter, or flavoring (optional - love vanilla and or coconut). Dip cold fruit quickly (within 5 minutes) and place on parchment paper to harden. Enjoy immediately or same day. Store in freezer to ensure juices remain inside candied shell. Since some fruit isis juicier than others, the candied shell can leak juices if not stored in freezer.
Making candied fruit skewers at home is a delightful way to enjoy a sweet and refreshing treat. One tip I’ve learned from experience is to carefully choose fruits that hold up well under freezing and candy coating, such as apples, grapes, or even citrus segments with skin intact. The skin helps trap the natural juices, which keeps the fruit moist and flavorful even after being dipped in the hot candy mixture. When preparing, I always pat the fruit very dry with paper towels because any excess moisture can prevent the candy syrup from sticking properly. Freezing the skewered fruit before dipping is a crucial step — it helps the hot candy shell set faster and prevents the juices inside from leaking out. Using a candy thermometer is invaluable in this recipe. Reaching the hard crack stage at 300°F means your candy shell will harden with a satisfying crunch rather than staying sticky. When the syrup is ready, I love adding a dash of vanilla extract or coconut flavoring for a unique twist. Edible glitter is a beautiful finishing touch that makes the skewers pop visually, especially for festive occasions. After dipping, placing the skewers on parchment paper to cool is best, but don’t leave them out too long. Storing them in the freezer maintains the candy shell’s crispness and keeps the fruit fresh. A quick tip: Enjoy them within the same day if possible, as the candy shell can begin to soften, and the fruit juices might start to leak over time. For a fun variation, try mixing different fruits on one skewer or experiment with adding a sprinkle of chili powder or cinnamon into the syrup for some spicy-sweet flavor. These candied fruit skewers make great snacks for kids and adults alike—and they’re perfect to share at parties or as a fun homemade gift!
