Stay abroad
As a child, I had a dream of "wanting to move abroad."
And one of the dream countries is "France."
At the time, the idea was very simple.
Just know there's Paris. There's the Eiffel Tower.
And I thought... it would be great to be here.
But the truth is - life before moving on.
I'm not having any trouble.
In Bangkok. There's a condo next to BTS.
Salary is comfortable living.
Travel abroad every year
Some years, 4-5 countries.
It's called "life is so okay."
Then why still choose to move?
The answer is "love."
I have a French girlfriend.
And we thought we could go a long way.
But he has a congenital disease that prevents him from moving to Thailand
He tried
But Thai life is not what you think
Half less salary than the country itself.
And the medication he needs is limited.
Some only get six months.
Some have to ask for a new one every week. And the price is very high.
Finally, we have to be "willing to move."
I quit my job.
Start all over.
And put him in charge of everyday expenses.
Sounds like romance, doesn't it?
But the truth is...
It's not the kind of dream life you thought of as a child.
I've visited France many times.
It's all gone to beautiful places.
I "like the place."
But "didn't like everything of living here."
Comfort, it's not the same.
There is no traditional social life.
There are no friends around.
Our Thai society is very good.
Good friend. Good job.
There is little... but quality.
Another very heavy story is "family."
We are very worried about parents.
But when you move
Revenue fell.
The money sent home was less.
It makes me feel guilty... and sad.
Especially in the winter.
Some days sitting crying for no reason.
Just homesick, miss your friends, miss your old life.
And the other truth that nobody says is...
"Starting over, it's very difficult."
We have to start learning French from scratch.
In a city where people rarely speak English.
It's not that easy.
And it's not the kind of dream life ever imagined.
But even so...
We still choose this way.
But it's "decision."
And "exchange."
Exchange comfort
With new opportunities.
Exchange familiarity.
With growth.
And we still believe...
Someday.
We can find happiness in this new life. 🤍
