Planning a wedding is mad work so here’s my cheatsheet to my full list of churches I emailed over 4 months.
🤍 What to look out for?
1. Number of pax the hall can sit
2. The hours for rental - usually 4h is common
3. Are chairs provided for lunch? Hidden cost
4. Is there somewhere to do tea ceremony?
5. Parking options available?
6. How far from MRT
Tbh the biggest hack is to try and book early and don’t put it off cause the church gets booked super fast especially for popular dates.
My fiance and I made the mistake of being too picky and even within the week, the slot would get taken and we had to start the search process all over again.
All the best on your wedding journey! 🫶🏻

When considering churches, also inquire about catering options as many venues have specific rules or partnerships with caterers. It's important to verify if the church hall provides chairs for the lunch reception or if you’ll need to arrange them separately to avoid unexpected expenses.
Parking availability and proximity to MRT stations can also affect your guests’ convenience, so it’s worth prioritizing these factors when narrowing down your options. Some churches have limited parking, so consider arranging shared transportation or advising guests to use public transit.
Another important factor is space for traditional ceremonies such as the tea ceremony, which may require a designated area. Make sure to ask if this can be accommodated without extra cost or setup challenges.
Lastly, it helped me to maintain a clear checklist including the hall’s seating capacity, rental hours allowed (commonly 4 hours), and any membership or affiliation restrictions that certain churches impose. This prevents surprises later on and helps you secure a venue that matches your wedding vision and budget perfectly.
Putting in the effort to email numerous churches provided a cheat sheet that I wished I had upfront. Hopefully, by sharing these insights, you can enjoy a less stressful and more joyful wedding planning journey!
